psychic’ octopus Paul picks Spain to win World Cup (and he was right)

July 10, 2010

Update:  As predicted by Paul Spain has won the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It is official Paul the octopus has predicted Spain to win over the Netherlands in the FIFA Football world cup . If you don’t know who Paul is and I must admit that until Thursday I was myself blissfully unaware Wikipedia has this brief rundown

Paul the Octopus or Paul Oktopus (hatched in 2008) is a common octopus living in a tank at a Sea Life Centre, a commercial attraction in Oberhausen, Germany. The octopus is used as an animal oracle in an attempt to predict the results of football matches, usually international matches in which Germany is playing.

The octopus is presented with two boxes, each containing a food item such as a mussel or an oyster, and each box marked with the flag of a national football team in an upcoming match. The octopus is reported to have chosen the box with the flag of the winning team in several of Germany’s six Euro 2008 matches, and in each of their first six matches in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He has predicted a win for Spain against the Netherlands in the World Cup final on July 11 by eating the mussel in the box with the Spanish flag on it.

So there you go an octopus prediction for the World Cup , well my brother and his family live in Barcelona Spain so I think that I will concur with Paul and also predict a Spanish victory. Whoever wins I hope the game is played with the greatest integrity and sportsmanship and that the best team wins on the day, well done to South Africa for staging a wonderful sporting event as we slowly turn our vision towards  the cycling  in Tour de France 2010.

Who do you think will win ?
